Brooklyn Public Library Branch - Renovation Proposal
Firm: LTL Architects
Spring Break - March 2018
Project Background:
The Eastern Parkway Branch Library of the Brooklyn Public Library received funding for additional work from the most recent renovation in 2016. The community is seeking a team of designers to help uncover the best use of the funding to provide the most beneficial renovation of their neighborhood library.
Where I integrated:
Research about the history of the 1914 Carnegie library was an essential beginning to understanding this library. Beyond the historic understanding, analyses were done to understand the progression of the library - where it began, how it has transformed over 104 years, and where it's best future will benefit. Below is a series of slides that I worked to put together during my internship at LTL. The intention behind this proposal was to inform the interview audience of the library's story and how it will continue to transform and impact the lives of the neighborhoods it serves.
Technical Work:
After a site visit to Brooklyn, New York, I used Autodesk Revit to build an existing conditions model of the library. I then used the historic research to build versions of the library at each renovation phase. Using the Revit model and the Adobe Suite (Photoshop & Illustrator), I developed graphics to help tell the story.
