Ozark Cabin
Project Background:
A cabin oasis in the Ozarks built to remind its visitors/residents what living in rural land offers that urban living does not.
Design Intentions:
Utilizing the land for its capabilities, I used a combination of gestures to the land to derive the building form. Peeling the land back and carving it away created the formal qualities of this cabin. This cabin is intended to be a retreat that allows its residents to connect with the senses of nature: sounds, visuals, smells, feelings of nature. The resident must live, breathe, and feel the earth while living in this space, so "indoor" space should be negligible. The "indoor" space is open to the outdoors to bring natural qualities into the built environment.
